Coming Soon: Robert Dale Parker May 29th at 6:00pm The Library is honored to be hosting Michigan Notable Book Award winning author (and English Professor from the University of Illinois) Robert Dale Parker, starting with refreshments at 5:30. Professor Parker’s detailed research has resulted in a renowned collected works compilation of the writings of Jane Johnston Schoolcraft, titled “The Sounds the Stars Make Rushing Through the Sky”. Parker reveals the hidden story behind this little known woman of many talents, born in Sault St. Marie, Michigan in 1800. A bilingual Ojibwa, she composed prose, poetry and was noted for collecting and translating native peoples’ oral stories and legends (including one which Henry Wadsworth Longfellow would later use to create the famous epic poem “Song of Hiawatha”.) Hear first hand about the works of this remarkable Native American woman, known to her people as “The Woman of the Sounds the Stars Make Rushing Through the Sky”. This Fall: Elizabeth Kane Buzzelli. A frequent contributor to the Traverse City Record Eagle, local author Elizabeth Buzzelli will be promoting her newest book, to be released in August. She will at the library on Thursday September 18th at 5:30 to celebrate the release of the first title of her new series called The Emily Kincaid Mysteries. The upcoming book is titled: DEAD DANCING WOMEN and is set in NW Lower Michigan.
