Donna was appointed as Treasurer on July 3, 2008.  She is very active in Garfield Township activities.  She had to resign from the Board of Review and the Zoning Board of Appeals to accept the position of Treasurer.  She has also served on the Planning Commission.  She volunteers for almost every project that arises.

She and her husband moved to Garfield Township when he retired from Chrysler, 7 years ago.  She has worked for Alpine Medical, a durable medical equipment store, for 3 years.

Margaret has two sons, George and Wayne, both of Fife Lake, a daughter, Marie (Rory) Densmore and 2 grandsons, Evan and Nick Brooks of Waldren, Michigan.

She taught Adult Community Education evening classes in Fife Lake and Kalkaska for 13 1/2 years while also teaching at Fife Lake Elementary during the day.  She retired from Forest Area Community Schools in 2003, after teaching there for 23 1/2 years.  Upon retiring, she bought and operates Taffletown USA, a bar and restaurant located on M-66, which was established in the 1940's.

She has been on the Planning Commission for 16 years and is a Trustee on the Garfield Township Board.  She also serves on the Environmental Council, the Historical Society, and the Cemetery Committee.  She was the chairperson of the Zoning Board of Appeals for several years.  Margaret is currently serving her first term as a Kalkaska County Road Commissioner.
