Provide education, advice, and expertise to county residents about forest, water, and soil conservation issues. Carry out an annual sale of trees, shrubs, and wildlife enhancement plantings. Direct river restoration projects on the Boardman, Manistee, and Rapid Rivers. Regularly meet with County Commissioners regarding local issues such as roads and streams. Provide information to waterfront owners and encourage participation in and the development of lake or stream associations. Initiate water quality activities. Select and recognize a Conservationist of the Year for Kalkaska County. Provide an ecology / conservation field day for all sixth graders in the Kalkaska and Forest Area School Districts. Support Envirothon in area schools. Direct a conservation poster contest for area students.
