• Provide education, advice, and expertise to county residents about forest, water, and soil conservation issues. • Carry out an annual sale of trees, shrubs, and wildlife enhancement plantings. • Direct river restoration projects on the Boardman, Manistee, and Rapid Rivers. • Regularly meet with County Commissioners regarding local issues such as roads and streams. • Provide information to waterfront owners and encourage participation in and the development of lake or stream associations. • Initiate water quality activities. • Select and recognize a Conservationist of the Year for Kalkaska County. • Provide an ecology / conservation field day for all sixth graders in the Kalkaska and Forest Area School Districts. • Support Envirothon in area schools. • Direct a conservation poster contest for area students.
