Margaret has two sons, George and Wayne, both of Fife Lake, a daughter, Marie (Rory) Densmore and two grandsons, Evan and Nick Brooks of Waldren, Michigan.

She retired from Forest Area Community Schools in 2003, after teaching at Fife Lake Elementary School for 23 1/2 years.  She also taught Adult Community Education evening classes in Fife Lake and Kalkaska for 13 1/2 of those years.

Margaret has been on the Planning Commission for 17 years.  She also serves on the Environmental Council, Historical Society, and the Cemetery Committee.  She was chairperson of the Zoning Board of Appeals and served as trustee on the township board for several years.

She is currently serving her second term as a Kalkaska County Road Commissioner.
