The beautiful Rapid River and Rugg Pond provide quality trout fishing opportunities; Leetsville ORV Trail is well marked; lots of state land for hunting, hiking, mushrooming, etc. The township has basically a rural atmosphere with zoned agricultural, forest recreational, commercial and light industrial areas.

The township provides mowing and regular maintenance of the two cemeteries, Maple Grove on Wood Road and Westwood.

The US-131 corridor supports a number of businesses including oilfield related suppliers, light industrial manufacturing, convenience stores, campground, motel and specialty shops.

Register to vote!!!!! Call Clerk, Valerie Hansen, for details. 2008 is a Presidential election year. Primary Election is Tuesday, August 5. Polls open 7 am to 8 pm. Registration is 30 days prior. Therefore, the last day to register is Monday, July 7. Absentee ballot applications are available.

Saturday, July 19. "Open forum" to meet local (township, county and possibly state) candidates will be held at the Rapid River Town Hall. Check "Leader" for time.
