The South Boardman Nature Preserve is a combined effort by Boardman Township citizens and the Grand Traverse Land Conservancy to secure 110 acres of land along the Headwaters of the south branch of the Boardman River in Kalkaska County. The nature preserve is intended to protect the sensitive wetlands and river from development. The park is open to the public at all times. A trailhead has been established on Butler Road near the village of South Boardman.
